Level stakes and why we track everything

Staking flat points per bet makes the P&L comparable across time — here’s the intuition.

Level stakes and why we track everything

Level staking means betting the same number of points on every selection (we use “pts” on the site). It’s not the only valid approach — Kelly sizing and variable stakes exist for good reasons — but it’s the cleanest way to compare periods and quote a public record without arguing about stake Weightings after the fact.

What the P&L assumes

  • Win: profit = stake × (decimal odds − 1)
  • Loss: you lose the full stake
  • Void: scratch (no win, no loss)

That matches how we settle tips in the app. If you size up only after a hot streak, your personal curve won’t match ours — and that’s okay. The point of level published stakes is transparency, not telling you how to size from your bank.

Next time we’ll talk about decimal odds and implied probability. Until then — keep stakes boring and decisions sharp.
